About

I’m a Brisbane-based IT Professional with just over 7 years experience in the industry.

I’ve done a whole lot of different things through my career, all the way from data entry and bulk print production to large-scale systems administration and back-end web development.

I’ve been freelance for a few years now, as I found this offered a nice diversity of work and clientele. I’ve had just the one principal client for about a year now. They run Australia’s largest (and one of the world’s largest) high-quality domain portfolios, so this has easily been the most challenging and rewarding undertaking yet.

Anyway, a brief history of the last 2 years…

Quotify
Quotify, my full-time employer from June 2006 to October 2007, is an independent consumer champion dedicated to connecting customers with qualified service providers based on detailed selection criteria. My role there was essentially to carry the technical side of the business from startup-level to a fully fledged contender in the consumer arena.

Codeworx operates two crucial services for web entrepreneurs: Pennywize, a password-protection system that helps prevent illegal sharing of account passwords, and myaffiliates.com, a top-quality affiliate management package targeted at the gaming industry. As well as being my full-time employers during 2005-2006, I assisted Codeworx with bringing two quality online products up a notch.

OMG
OMG owns and operates Australia’s largest quality domain portfolio, with many top-tier names like creditcards.com.au, mobiles.com.au and jobs.com.au. Over the past 18 months I have assisted OMG in seriously ramping up their product offering and their infrastructure, essentially being their tech “go-to” guy while they worked at building a full-time team.

Median Technologies
Median Technologies operate one of the most successful and innovative mailing houses in Australia. Median were my first employers back in 2002, essentially giving me my start in IT. I filled a variety of roles (as tends to happen quite frequently) including system administration, research & development for the many new print solutions we were putting our hands up for, print pre- and post-processing including postscript processing and splitting, and being the general go-to braniac-in-house.Earlier in the year, I performed an ad-hoc job requiring the splitting and verification of several hundred thousand individual PDF documents to be made available for download by clients. I shelled out for over a thousand dollars worth of hardware in order to crunch the large quantity of data in the timeframes required! I currently borrow a desk at Median’s offices in Kedron, Queensland.
